My Mom came to town this weekend. We went to check out the European Flea market at Jayson Home and Garden. The weather was beautiful, and the flea market was fabulous. There were finds from flea markets in Belgium, France, Italy and of course, a European flea market isn't complete with out some special items from Palm Beach, FL.It was my lucky day, because I found a set of chandeliers that were particularly interesting. They're made of aluminum and were hand crafted in Egypt, but designed by a Belgian. They are a little overwhelming when viewed close up, but from a distance and hung in a group of three they look AMAZING. I love them, and I cannot wait to hang them when we move (in 3 months). Until then they will make a nice sculptural piece on the top of my book shelf.
After the flea market, and the particularly satisfying purchase, we went to J. Alexander for lunch. For dinner I made shrimp and pasta, and then we proceeded to get drunk. Like really drunk, I'm not even sure why, but I guess 3 bottles of wine between the three of us seemed like a good idea...at the time.
Sunday, we woke up semi-early, and I made some delish blueberry pancakes for breakfast, and then we headed to the Museum of Science and Industry to check out the Japanese Zen garden that's on the island in the back.
